Fall 2023 Stories

Diabetes Virtual Fall Camp 2023 had 361 interns from 32 countries around the world, including Bangladesh, Belarus, Canada, Chile, China, Ecuador, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mozambique, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, U.S.A., and Vietnam. Our interns also represented 34 states across the U.S.: Alabama (8), Arkansas (1), Arizona (1), California (66), Colorado (1), Connecticut (1), Florida (6), Georgia (3), Hawaii (2), Illinois (4), Indiana (6), Kansas (1), Louisiana (3), Maryland (7), Massachusetts (43), Maine (1), Minnesota (1), Missouri (3), Nebraska (3), New Hampshire (1), New Jersey (8), New York (21), North Carolina (1), Ohio (3), Oregon (2), Pennsylvania (6), Puerto Rico (1), Rhode Island (1), South Carolina (2), Tennessee (2), Texas (12), Virginia (3), Washington (2), and West Virginia (1). Many of our interns have type 1 or type 2 diabetes or families with diabetes. All of our interns share a common goal of advancing their knowledge in diabetes and pursuing a career in medicine, research, and other healthcare fields. The program was participated by high school (48), college (150), post-undergraduate (21), pharmacy school (8), graduate school (43), and medical school (22) students, medical residents (7), clinical fellows (9), postdoc research fellows (17), nutritionists/dietitian (6), early-career clinicians/researchers (14), and other health professionals (16), representing 145 institutions globally.
